Back to School (With a new format!)

I'm back in University. I'm back to making friends and sitting in class and going to libraries and... reading. Most of all, University is about lots and lots of reading. The thing is, though, since I'm finally studying something I like, the texts I'm reading are actually things that interest me. Things that (well, for the most part), I wouldn't have minded reading in my free time anyway. Add to that the fact that I now have access to thousands of "fun" books at the University's several libraries, and you understand why my backpack is weighing about 50 tons.

Anyway, this all means that the "currently reading" and "just read" sections weren't going to work for this blog anymore. I'm reading too many things at once!

I want to try a new format. I call it the Super Lists Format. Now, last week I had my first session with my new (free!) therapist. He told me that in the incoming weeks we'd try to get rid of my need to make lists. I understand why... I mean, to-do lists reach a certain point where they become simply cumbersome. However, I refuse to acknowledge that all lists are bad. I think there are some lists which are very nice, and helpful, and not OCD at all. Christmas lists, for one thing. And supermarket lists. And lists with CDs that you want, or Books to Be Read, or even Bucket Lists. They all have their charm, because they aren't FUNCTIONAL.

I intend for this to me a fun, non-functional list blog. Basically, every month I will be adding the stuff I read in the column at the right -->.

The "Fun" books, I will add as I finish them each month. Aside from the monthly list, I will also put them in the "Books read in 2012" list on the left, just to keep tabs on my yearly progress.
<-----

The "Academic" list will probably not contain whole books. Since I'm usually assigned only chapters, or sections, or articles, I will add only the bits I read, whenever I finish each bit. This is also so that my friend Clo can see if she finds any of these interesting :) However, the academic books will not be added to the "2012" tally.

Finally, I will add a list of whatever I've written (be it fiction, non-fiction or poetry) each month. After all, I am supposed to be a creative writing student.

So, March is going to be the trial month for this new format. Let the pilot begin :)
